October News: Exhibition Thanks!

I'm still really buzzing from the Portscatho exhibition. Thank you to all of you who came to support me, or sent good wishes and positive messages. It's really appreciated! I was especially touched by those who travelled some way - thank you so much!

The exhibition exceed my expectations in every way. We had a constant stream of visitors over the two days with so many friends, family members and passers by dropping in to browse and ask questions. The glorious weather certainly contributed to the lovely atmosphere! I've added some photos below.

It was wonderful to receive comments and feedback and it was so lovely to share the stories behind my paintings as well as my techniques and sketchbooks. It was the first time that I'd seen a body of my work collected together, so that in itself was really satisfying! All in all, I couldn't have asked for a better event - the stars certainly aligned!

I hope to be back at the Fishermen's Shelter next year and will keep you posted about that.

New work

I always work on a few paintings at one time. That's because I can keep working while the layers on other paintings are drying. As you may know, I work by laying multiple layers of paint and texture down. Between layers, the paint changes colour and light shifts. The results are sometimes unexpected!

For example, my new painting below: 'Evening Light, St Ives', is made up off many layers of paint and there are two almost complete paintings underneath. No layer or under painting is ever lost though and each one contributes to the final painting. It took six months to complete.

Although this is my own work, I really love it. I considered keeping this one - I can't exactly explain why but I poured a lot into it and I knew immediately when it was ready. It's on the website here, but won't be framed and ready until December. Let me know if you have any questions about it or would like more images or a video.

Looking forward to 2028!

Although it's some way off, I'm thrilled to let you know that I will be holding a solo exhibition in the Spring Gallery at The Poly in Falmouth in July 2028.

It seems like a while away, but it gives me a good amount of time to build a body of work that would do justice to that wonderful gallery space! I'm very excited about it and am just about to start work on the first of a number of 100x100 cm canvases.

The Poly is a fabulous place, right in the centre of Falmouth, so I'm really looking forward to this and will bring you more news as we go along. You can find more about the venue on The Poly's website here

Thank you again for all your support - it really is appreciated!

Bye for now and have a lovely weekend, Tamsin
