The light in St Ives is famously unique. It changes depending on the weather, the time of day, the season and on the angle and perspective. In this painting, I tried to capture the moment where the sun has just set, but the remains of the day's light are reflected on the water.
This painting took about six months to paint, from beginning to end. It is painted in multiple layers of oil, which you can see as you are drawn in and look more closely.
I have added it because there has been quite a lot of interest around this painting, so you can see more detail, even though it's not quite ready as it needs to properly dry and be framed. I will add more photos and a video soon. It should be ready and framed by mid December 2026.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
