This painting was recently exhibited at the St Ives Society of Artists.
Looking out from Towan Beach. This original oil painting captures Towan Beach on the beautiful Roseland Peninsular. Inspired by a stormy walk along the South West Coast Path from Portscatho to St Anthony Head, the scene reflects the moment when the clouds began to clear and sunlight broke through after a day of flying sea spray!
I sat on Towan Beach sketching and trying to capture the changing light, later developing those sketches into paintings. This is one of those. It is painted in oils on linen board and I hope it captures some of the drama and shifting skies of the day.
