This painting  was inspired by a stormy walk I took along the South West Coast Path between Portscatho and St Anthony Head on the Roseland Peninsular, Cornwall. I sketched at various points along the walk and on my way back the weather had calmed and, as I sat on Towan Beach, a distant storm flickered on the horizon. The day had an ethereal quality. It is difficult to capture in photos how tranquil this paintings is when you sit with it. It has a serene and calm feeling.
